Intro
This time of year is about all things golden. The garden feels settled, the buzzing in the trees starts to subside and blooms are fading. Soon, we’ll be surrounded by Pumpkin Spice everything….but not before I profess my undying love for sunflowers…
I know Meg Ryan thinks “daisies are the friendliest flower”, but I disagree. The joy I get from sunflowers is unmatched. Truly, they are remarkable. Towering towards the sky, an outright refusal to be anything short of big. They take up space, they’re bold and in a way could be symbolic of what we should all strive to be in life; big, bold, sunny and reaching for the sky.

Pattern Notes
In some cases, the video tutorials have been used for other patterns. Please follow the yarn recommendations, hook size and stitch counts in the written pattern- the videos are only meant as visual guides.
Gauge will affect yarn quantities, please adjust hook size to meet gauge. To ensure you meet the gauge listed on Page 1 of the pattern, please leave only a 4” starting tail, 4” ending tail. If your sunflowers are bigger than the gauge listed on Page 1, then YOU WILL RUN OUT OF YARN. Go down in hook size (as many as needed!!) if your sunflower hexies are too big. It will not affect the overall size of your blanket but will ensure you have enough yarn to finish your project. It is not the responsibility of the yarn dyer to provide you with more yarn to finish your blanket if you run out. Gauge is IMPORTANT.
Ch 2 counts as DC throughout.
This blanket is joined with CJAYG (see video tutorial in Blanket Assembly section)- however, you can assemble the blanket however you prefer by just completing a 4th rnd of each hexie and joining afterwards. This may require more yarn than is written in the pattern so please keep this in mind when acquiring yarn.

Assembling Blanket Hexies (CJAYG):
With RS of hexagons face up, lay out all motifs in the arrangement from the Schematic above.
Using joining Colour Black Pepper; start in top right-hand corner to join hexagons across the rows.
Example: First row will be joined from hexagon letter A across to hexagon letter C. The second row will start with hexagon letter C and be worked across to hexagon letter B.
Following along with the video tutorial below, crocheting hexagons together until blanket is complete. Please note the video tutorial was used to join Sunburst hexagons which are slightly larger than these Starbursts. There will be one less granny shell along each edge of your Sunflower hexies. Everything else remains the same.
Once back to the start of the blanket (in the top right-hand corner)- DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
You are now ready to start Border Round 1.
**Please see video tutorial below for how to join CJAYG sunflower hexies together:
